Desperately Seeking Authenticity

Back in 1994, I wrote a column for the final issue on an independent magazine I was publishing. The magazine was called The Real News", and the column was titled, "Goodbye New Age, Hello Now Age". The magazine bridged the worlds of natural living and popular culture in a way that's commonplace today, but somewhat ahead of its time back then.

The point of the column was my search for something beyond the narcissism embedded in new age thinking, by opening up the conversation to something more inclusive of society, politics, and culture, in addition to health. And let's not forget a sense of humor, something missing in the new age scene. View all that through a holistic lens, and distilled with a keen sense of discernment, and you've arrived at what I was looking to create. With the end of The Real News, I moved my concept online, and began distilling news articles through the Now Age prism. What began as simple emails to family and friends, grew to a periodic column called, Now Age Minute, an ultimately a website called, The Now Age Press.
